Campaña de Solidaridad con Cuba.- En una extraordinaria demostración de solidaridad, más de 80 diputados de todos los partidos políticos han firmado una moción parlamentaria en apoyo de los derechos de visita a Olga Salanueva y Adriana Pérez.
Los diputados representan a más de 7,5 millones de ciudadanos británicos que hacen de esta una de las declaraciones más importantes de apoyo a los Cinco en Europa.
La moción urge que el gobierno de EE.UU. "haga un gesto humanitario y otorgar derechos de visita a sus esposas." También cita la británica Amnesty International, que ha dicho que "negar las visitas de sus esposas es innecesariamente punitiva y contraria a las normas de la integridad personal de los reclusos y obligaciones de los Estados de proteger la vida familiar ".
Michael Connarty MP fue el primero en apoyar la moción. Dijó que el encarcelamiento de los Cinco es "una violación de los derechos humanos". Ahora, más de 80 diputados de todos los partidos políticos han añadido sus nombres en apoyo de la moción.

Rob Miller, director de la Campaña de Solidaridad con Cuba, dijo:
"Es una farsa completa que después de 14 años Olga y Adriana, dos de las esposas de los Cinco, se les sigue negando visas para visitar a sus esposos. El movimiento demuestra que los parlamentarios de todos los partidos políticos, que representan a millones de ciudadanos del Reino Unido, tienen claro que los EE.UU. debe poner fin a esta "tortura" y permitir a estas mujeres ver a sus maridos. Nos aseguraremos de que este sencillo mensaje llegue al Presidente de los EE.UU., al igual que el pueblo estadounidense ".
René González envió un mensaje a sus partidarios en el Reino Unido diciendo:
"Todavía podemos identificar ese hermoso árbol que crece en el Reino Unido, que empezó como una pequeña semilla. Podemos identificarlo por su ancho tronco, las ramas bien desarrolladas y, más que nada, por los frutos de la lucha de amor y solidaridad "

Over 80 UK parliamentarians sign motion in support of the Cuban Five
In an extraordinary show of solidarity over 80 MPs from all the political parties have signed a parliamentary motion in support of visitation rights for Olga Salanueva and Adriana Perez.
The MPs represent over 7.5 million British citizens making this one of the most important statements of support of Five made in Europe.
The Motion calls on the US administration to ‘make a humanitarian gesture and grant visitation rights to their wives.’ It also quotes the UK based Amnesty International who have said that “denying the men visits from their wives is unnecessarily punitive and contrary to standards for humane treatment of prisoners and states' obligations to protect family life'
Michael Connarty MP was the first to sign the motion. He called the imprisonment of the Five “a breach of basic human rights”. Now over 80 MPs from all the political parties including the governing Conservative Party have added their names.
Thousands of British citizens have now written to all their MPs urging them to sign the motion. Over 30,000 action cards have been distributed and thousands of people have used the on line web site to make their voices heard at http://edm.cuba-solidarity.org.uk/
Rob Miller, Director of the Cuba Solidarity Campaign said
“It is a complete travesty that after 14 years Olga and Adriana, two of the wives of the Miami Five, are still being denied visas to visit their husbands. The Motion shows that MPs from all the political parties, representing millions of UK citizens, are clear that the US should stop this ‘torture’ and allow these women to see their husbands. We will ensure that this simple message reaches the US President, as well as the American people.”
René Gonzalez sent a message to supporters in the UK saying
“We can still identify that beautiful tree growing in the United Kingdom, which started as just a small seed. We can identify it by its wide trunk, the well developed branches and, more than anything, by its fruits of love struggle and solidarity”
